Baghdad, 9 June 2013 – The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG), Mr. Martin Kobler, welcomed today’s visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki and members of his cabinet to Erbil, and his meeting with President of the Kurdistan Region Masud Barzani, Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani and other KRG officials. The Iraqi Prime Minister also chaired the first Council of Ministers’ meeting held in Erbil.

Baghdad, 6 June 2013 - The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG), Mr. Martin Kobler, condemns in the strongest terms the heinous cold-blooded murder of at least 14 border guard policemen and civilians by gunmen at a fake checkpoint in the town of Al-Nukhaib (300 km south-west of Ramadi on the main road to Kerbala).
