UN Envoy expresses his shock and outrage over Eid ul Fitr holiday terror attacks in Iraq

Baghdad, 11 August 2013 - The Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (DSRSG) for Iraq, Mr. Gyorgy Busztin, expresses his shock and outrage following the series of coordinated bomb attacks that targeted markets, shopping streets and parks in Baghdad and other locations over the country while people were celebrating the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

“This carnage reflects the inhuman character of its perpetrators,” Mr. Busztin said, extending his sincere condolences to the bereaved families, and wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded. "All honest Iraqis should unite to put an end to this murderous violence that aims to push the country into sectarian strife."
