Baghdad, 11 June 2017 – The Government of Australia has contributed an additional US$1.5 million to UNDP’s Funding Facility for Stabilization (FFS), which finances fast-track initiatives in areas liberated from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). This brings Australia’s total contribution to FFS to almost US$3 million to date.

Erbil, Iraq, 7 June 2017 - UNHCR, the UN refugee agency, has opened another camp in response to a continued surge in the number of newly-displaced Iraqis fleeing the military offensive in western Mosul and in other areas of conflict.

ERBIL, 5 June 2017 – “We are receiving alarming reports of civilians including several children being killed in west Mosul. Some were reportedly killed as they desperately tried to flee the fighting which is intensifying by the hour.

ERBIL, 30 May 2017 – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is concerned about the humanitarian conditions inside western Mosul’s old city, where as many as 180,000 people are reportedly hungry and living in miserable conditions.

Baghdad, 29 May – As the fighting intensifies in west Mosul, humanitarian partners in Iraq have pre-positioned lifesaving packages of assistance containing food, water and other assistance in key areas in preparation for a surge in the number of people fleeing the violence.

Baghdad, 29 May 2017 - The Government of Japan has extended its support to the World Health Organization in March this year with a donation of over US$ 1 million to implement a project to provide integrated lifesaving services in IDP and Syrian refugee camps in the hosting governorates of Ninewa, Erbil and Duhok.
