BAGHDAD, 1 December 2015- The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) distributed today urgently needed food assistance provided by the Government of Iraq to nearly 70,000 people in the besieged cities of Haditha and Al Baghdadi in the central governorate of Anbar.

BAGHDAD – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is assisting Iraqi families returning to their homes in Garma city in Anbar province, providing over 185 families (925 people) with family food parcels to help them as they rebuild their shattered lives.

BAGHDAD – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has started providing food vouchers to assist half a million Iraqis displaced by the conflict in Iraq. This new scheme empowers recipients to choose their own food and prioritise their own needs. 

BAGHDAD , 27 October 2014 - The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has welcomed a contribution of US $5 million from the government of Japan to support a new programme starting next month in November using food vouchers to help half a million Iraqis displaced by the conflict.

BAGHDAD , 11 September 2014 - The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has welcomed a contribution of €2 million from the Government of Germany to help fund its emergency field kitchens in Iraq supplying hot meals to over a quarter of a million people.

4 September 2014, Bagdad/Rome - FAO is scaling-up critical food and agriculture assistance to highly vulnerable rural households in Iraq thanks to a generous $14.7 million grant from Saudi Arabia. The donation is part of a $500 million grant that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has provided to support Iraqis affected by the recent crisis.

17 March 2013 (WFP) - Following a request by the Iraqi Government, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is providing food assistance to Syrians who have fled to Iraq to escape the fighting and violence in their home country: Refugees are supplied with individual food parcels which are sufficient to cover the basic food needs of one individual for one month. Individually packed food items are arranged in a sturdy cardboard box containing wheat flour, rice, lentils, oil, sugar and salt - altogether 19.2kg during the winter months (January to March) and 16.5 kg during the summer months.
