Baghdad, 26 August 2020 - An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated on Wednesday morning near Bartilla, on the Mosul-Erbil road in Ninewa Governorate, impacting a passing UN vehicle. One World Food Programme (WFP) staff member was hurt and taken to hospital in Erbil.

Thi Qar, 26 August 2020- Funded by the European Union (EU), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will be supporting socio-economic growth through eco-tourism and cultural heritage preservation in the Governorate of Thi Qar, south of Iraq.

Erbil, Iraq, 25 August 2020 – The World Health Organization (WHO) has today delivered 6 ambulances to the Ministry of Health of the Kurdistan region to improve ambulatory and life-saving services for the vulnerable population of Syrian refugees and the host community in the Erbil governorate of Iraq.

Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, 25 August 2020 – On 23 August, the Kurdistan Regional Ministry of Planning, the Ministry of Culture and Youth, and the Kurdistan Region Statistics Office, together with the United Nations, launched the results of the National Adolescents and Youth Survey, which was conducted by the Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government with the support of UNFPA & UNICEF in 2019.

The ILO and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq sign an agreement to support job creation through the establishment and upscaling of Ministry-run employment service centres.

The new partnership aims to tackle the worst forms of child labour amongst internally displaced persons, Syrian refugees and vulnerable host community members in Iraq.
