On 9 July 2018, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (DSRSG) for Iraq for Political Affairs and Electoral Assistance, Alice Walpole, visited the recount centre in Baghdad to assess progress made in conducting the partial manual recount of votes from the 12 May national elections.

On 27 June 2018, the Acting Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, Alice Walpole, visited southern Kirkuk to meet representatives of the Kurdish Kakai community in their villages around Daquq, to learn about the history and culture of this community and to discuss the current security situation.
