The HRO trainers initiated discussions with the youth leaders of Ninewa Governorate through a training course to participants from two existing entities that have extensive access across Ninewa, vis-à-vis the Provincial Council Network of youth and the independent, non-partisan Ninewa Network for Youth. The training course aimed to enhance networking among the youth from different areas of Ninewa governorate, bearing in mind the importance of conflict prevention and building communities’ capacity for peacebuilding in the immediate aftermath of liberation of Ninewa.
Recommendations included creating active initiatives on Community Reconciliation and Social Cohesion, promoting respect of international human rights norms, planning for a youth forum to discuss the future of their areas after the liberation, as well as developing the skills of youth to be ready to contribute actively among different communities within the governorate.
