Baghdad, 2 August 2017 - UN Women Office in Iraq held a consultation meeting with women leaders and civil society organizations on August 2, 2017. The meeting was chaired by UN Women Regional Director for Arab States, Mr. Mohammad Naciri, who is currently visiting Iraq.

Erbil, 5 November 2016- Under the auspices of the Provincial Council of Ninewa, UNAMI Human Rights Office (HRO) inaugurated a training course for civil society network in Ninewa on Community Reconciliation and Social Cohesion for representatives of civil society actors from Ninewa Governorate. The training course organized on 5 and 6 November 2016 will allow the 30 course participants to be acquainted with accountability and reconciliation principles, both on the theoretical and practical levels.

Baghdad, Iraq, 20 October 2016 – A workshop to enhance the negotiation and mediation skills of local civil society groups and women leaders, organized by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) and UN Women, concluded in Baghdad today with calls for increased participation of civil society groups and women in future reconciliation efforts.

Baghdad, 15 September – As part of its continued support to Iraq’s parliament, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) today signed with the Council of Representatives in Baghdad a project of US$1,797,999 funded by the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden. This initiative aims to strengthen the legislative and oversight role of the parliament, which now begins its third term following the April 2014 elections.
